Bawaslu Tasikmalaya Checks Reports Of Alleged Violations Of Ridwan Kamil's Campaign

TASIKMALAYA - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, is investigating alleged campaign violations by former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil who campaigned for candidate pair number 2 in the Jambore event of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) in Cipatujah, Tasikmalaya.

"We are currently reviewing this because we will decide whether this is registered or not," said Head of Bawaslu, Tasikmalaya Regency, Dodi Juanda, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 19.

Bawaslu has received information about the campaign activities of former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil in BPD activities, which in terms of election regulations should not have campaign elements at BPD events.

Furthermore, Bawaslu conducted a search to investigate related to the case of campaign violations by Ridwan Kamil (RK) as the Head of the Prabowo-Gibran Regional Campaign Team (TKD) in West Java.

"We asked for information, especially the BPD committee in the field," he said.

Based on the results of the examination by the committee and BPD of Tasikmalaya Regency, according to him, the presence of RK at the event was brought by the General Chairperson of BPD, not an invitation from the committee. Likewise, RK is not in the composition of the event.

The committee in the regions, according to him, could not do much, let alone leave the event, until it finally remained present until the activity was completed.

The committee, he continued, assessed that those who attended the former governor then invited RK to the stage. Next on stage, RK asked for permission for the campaign so that the action had an intention to campaign.

"The point is, it is indeed Mr. RK who is a bit fatal," said Dodi.

He revealed that there was a political party that reported the alleged violation of the RK campaign to the West Java Provincial Bawaslu. Even so, Bawaslu, Tasikmalaya Regency, which carries out direct supervision, continues to follow up on the case.

The Bawaslu of Tasikmalaya Regency, he said, would not only summon the Tasikmalaya Regency committee and BPD, but would summon the General Chairperson of BPD and RK to be questioned regarding alleged campaign violations in Tasikmalaya.

"Do not let the results of our supervision not be followed up, all those involved there we will call, indiscriminately, those who violate us will follow up because Bawaslu has integrity," he said.
