At The PDIP Christmas Celebration, Megawati Cerita Was Chosen To Be The Zayed Award Jury To Meet Pope Francis

JAKARTA - PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri shared her experience as a judge for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity (ZAHF 2024) at the end of last year and her impression of having a dialogue with Pope Francis

The story started Megawati's speech at the celebration of Christmas held by PDIP and Prosperous Peace Volunteers for Ganjar-Mahfud (Reds) at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta, Thursday, January 18.

Initially, Pastor Gilbert Lumoindong revealed the points of reflection about the path of truth that must be adhered to. Megawati, who gave her subsequent speech, gave an illustration of how the theme of the path of truth did get contextualization this election year.

He also started with a story about his last trip to the Vatican and met Pope Francis in order to determine the winner of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity (ZAHF 2024).

He admitted that he had never previously imagined that he would be able to meet the supreme Catholic leader.

"Even though everyone knows I am Muslim. Women again. It was an extraordinary event. But it happened because I was elected as one of the judges chosen by the Pope and Grand Imam of the Al Azhar Mosque," said Megawati.

As it turned out, according to Megawati, the Grand Imams of the Al Azhar Mosque and Pope Francis listened to reports about Megawati who always expressed the truth for the benefit of mankind.

In this year's PDIP Anniversary celebration, Megawati also chose the theme 'Satyam Eva Jayate', Sanskrit which means 'The Truth Must Win'.

"Those are not my words. Those were when the 13th century, Raden Wijaya seemed to be made miserable and there was Mpu who said don't be afraid and don't be weak, be brave, be honest, victory is always there, the truth is always there, and there will be victory," he said.

He considered this principle very important to be a guide. As taught by all religions, humans will always be tested. The path of truth must always be a guide, do not be afraid to defend the truth.

"As humans, we are always given trials. All religions teach that. We will always try to be good people, or bad people," added Megawati.

'Power is good. But for me, if I have to stop, then stop. Don't even forget the mainland. That's a trial, don't forget. Humans are always tried," he continued.

He explained that in Islam there were angels who recorded kindness and an angel who recorded human ugliness.

Ahead of the 2024 General Election, Megawati reminded all Indonesian people that the election was for the people themselves. The people must have the courage to fight for the right one.

"I think to provide a way of lighting to all Indonesian people, this election is actually for you, not anyone, that it is your right to determine who will be the leader," Mega said.

"The people's right to win, don't be afraid of intimidation, don't be afraid of power, because power is not lasting, what lasts forever is Allah SWT. Remember," he said.
