Kominfo Prepares Several New Incentives To Improve Telecommunication Services

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Postal and Informatics Resources and Devices, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, revealed that it is currently working on several incentives for telecommunications service providers or cellular operators.

After the Analog Switch Off (ASO) Program is complete, currently the radio frequency spectrum of 700 MHz (low band) is clean and can be auctioned off for the use of 5G networks.

For this reason, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has conducted a study on the incentive mechanism for cellular operators.

"So we are discussing the discourse, we want to finish it because the last few auctions have continued to rise. But industrial health doesn't seem to be doing well. So there needs to be a discourse related to this incentive issue," said Director General of SDPPI Kominfo Ismail to the media recently.

Ismail also said that Kominfo had discussed and collected input from cellular operator organizers.

However, this study has not yet been decided because it still requires further discussions with various parties including the Ministry of Finance and other agencies.

"So when asked when, if our study actually ended the final, the team had given it to the minister, but he had not decided yet. Not because the minister was slow to decide, but because he still had to communicate again with several parties from other institutions," he said.

Previously, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi had met with telecommunications service providers or cellular operators Indosat, Telkomsel, XL and Smart.

During the meeting, the Minister of Communication and Information discussed alternative incentive schemes for cellular operators to increase bandwidth speed for the needs of implementing 5G telecommunications network technology in Indonesia.
