Memories Of Today, January 10, 2010: Ayin's Luxury Cell, Corruptor Prisoner At Pondok Bambu Detention Center Revealed
JAKARTA Memories of today, 23 years ago, January 10, 2010, the Legal Mafia Eradication Task Force revealed the luxury cell of corrupt convicts at the Pondok Bambu Detention Center, East Jakarta. There is a corruption convict, Artalyta Suryani alias Ayin behind it. The woman who was nicknamed the lobby queen was privileged.
As a result everywhere. In Indonesia, he criticized Indonesian law enforcers. Previously, Ayin was known as an entrepreneur who was caught wanting to bribe law enforcers. The bribery forced him to languish behind bars.
Indonesian law narratives can be bought with money, not new goods. The behavior of law enforcers who are increasingly violating ethics and easily bribed is behind it. This condition was then exacerbated by the emergence of the name of the businessman and Queen Lobi from Lampung, Ayin.
His figure was hailed as a criminal who was able to expose the dilapidated Indonesian law. Ayin shocked the whole of the archipelago because he was caught lobbying and bribing Attorney Urip Gunawan. The bribery was carried out to smooth the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) case with the main actor who owns Bank Dagang Indonesia, Sjamsul Nursalim.
This fact made the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) move quickly. They arrested Urip, then Ayin. The Rp6 billion money is proof that the bribery took place. Ayin multiply the money given to Urip was a business capital loan. However, the KPK and other law enforcers do not easily believe it.
Ayin was immediately examined and dealt with. The trial was rushed. As a result, Ayin was found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison with a fine of Rp250 million in 2008. This condition forced Ayin to languish in the Pondok Bambu detention center.
The punishment given to Ayin is expected to be a deterrent effect. Therefore, acts of corruption in Indonesia can be reduced. Although many also feel disappointed because the punishment given to Ayin is too low. Many want the punishment given is a maximum sentence, life imprisonment.
Before arresting Artalyta, the KPK first arrested Urip. Drama, the arrest of the Coordinator of the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Investigation Team took place in front of Artalyta's residence on Jalan Terusan Hang Lekir Blok WG-9, South Jakarta. The money was allegedly related to the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance case Sjamsul Nursalim, the owner of the Indonesian National Trade Bank, who was declared innocent two days earlier by the Attorney General's Office.

"But at the trial Artalyta emphasized that Rp 6 billion was a business capital loan to Urip. Not just talking, proof of Urip's loan proposal to Artalyta and receipts for the handover of Rp 6 billion was also raised at the trial two weeks ago. The proposal and receipt were submitted by Kaligis to the panel of judges chaired by Teguh Harianto," explained Martha W. Silaban and Munawwaroh in their article in Tempo Magazine entitled Akhir Bengkel Suap Ayin and Urip (2008).
In fact, the people's disappointment with the punishment given to Ayin is getting worse. Everything is because the Legal Mafia Eradication Task Force has the courage to take action on luxury cells inhabited by Ayin at the Pondok Bambu Detention Center on January 10, 2010.
Inspection of the team formed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) found the facts that made the whole of Indonesia angry. Instead of Ayin being leveled with other inmates, he is actually privileged to be placed in a cell with luxury facilities, from a luxurious living room to having a kitchen.
In fact, during the inspection, Ayin was conducting beauty treatments in the detention center. Ayin also admitted that he was free to manage all his business from prison. This condition makes the portrait of Indonesian law enforcement fall to its lowest level. The owner of the power finally moved Ayin from the Pondok Bambu Detention Center to the Tangerang Women's Correctional Institution.
"I, right, have many employees, sir. Around 80 thousand people because my company applies the plasma method for oil palm plantations and property companies. If I don't take care of it, what will happen to them, how will they all be laid off?" said Ayin as quoted by Kompas.com page, January 12, 2010.
