Laura Basuki Battered Because Of Domestic Violence, Ario Bayu: Poor!
JAKARTA - Laura Basuki and Ario Bayu competed as husband and wife through their latest film, Sehidup Semati. The film directed by Upi wants to show a story about a couple experiencing dodoma which results in their marriage being threatened.
Laura Basuki plays Renata, the wife of Edwin, played by Ario Bayu and experiences domestic violence. According to the trailer, Renata's character is made so weak that it is helpless with Edwin's attitude.
"I'm not grateful to be trusted to play Renata. I'm supported by playing in a solid and artistic script and costume. Playing the character of Renata looks quite complicated," Laura Basuki said in a press conference for Life and Death today, Monday, January 8.
Ario Bayu also feels that there is nothing to be proud of from his character. However, he sees this film as having a purpose to convey the dogma that often happens.
Edwin's character is a symbol of the manifestation of the dogma that is not true. Because there is, as a man, the head of the family thinks it's okay to do domestic violence (in-house violence)," said Ario Bayu.

In the process, Ario Bayu admitted that he could not bear to see Laura Basuki in a weak position, especially because the scenes were related to violence.
"When we take it, or look at Laura take it if you like to see.. oh, sorry for my wife! But said Upi, yes, the reality is there," explained Ario Bayu.
"But I want to give strength, this is a wrong symbol, so don't follow it. As a representative of men and I am a man, I learned from Edwin's character. I think there is a sense of culture that forms what is maintained and maybe that's what is interesting from Edwin," he said again.
Laura Basuki admitted that she had never experienced a character like Renata, then she tried to find out how such an environment happened and was applied to Renata.
"To be honest I've never experienced it but when I read the script I'm empathetic. It turns out that there are many who experience it," said Laura Basuki.
Semari Sematari tells of Renata, a wife who often experiences domestic violence from her husband, Edwin. One day, Renata suspects that there is a third person in their marriage. On the other hand, Renata also meets a woman who changes her life.
The film Sehapi Semat akan tayang di bioskop mulai 11 Januari 2024.
