The United Stated Prepares Firm Action Regarding The Deaths Of Myanmar Military Violence
JAKARTA - The United States will continue to take firm action against the Myanmar military regarding the progress that took place over the weekend in the country.
This was said by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, along with the increasingly repressive of the military and security forces in facing the anti-coup protesters on February 1.
On Saturday afternoon, January 20, two people were shot dead in the head and chest, after security forces stormed the shipyard in Maha Aung Myay Township, to break up a demonstration or national insurgency (CDM) by shipyard workers.
Earlier, on Friday, February 19, Ma Mya Thwet Thwet Khine, a student protester died after being treated for ten days, due to a live bullet shot in the head.
And most recently, on Saturday midnight before the dawn of Sunday, February 21, a civilian who carried out night patrols in their residential area in the Shwe Pyithar Township area, Yangon, was said to have been shot dead by police while inspecting a suspicious van.
"The United States will continue to take firm action against those who commit violence against the Burmese people as they demand the restoration of a democratically elected government. We support the Burmese people", Antony Blinken said in a post on Twitter.
As is known, President Joe Biden approved penalties against top Myanmar military officials who were involved in the State Administration Council (SAC) formed by the Myanmar military after the coup.
Members of the military regime named, cited from The Irrawaddy are, the coup leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Myanmar Military Senior Deputy General Soe Win, General Mya Tun Oo; Admiral Tin Aung San, Lieutenant-General Aung Lin Dwe, and Lieutenant General Ye Win Oo. All of them are members of the SAC.
The other four people on the new penalties list who are not members of the SAC are the Presidential official of Myanmar and retired Lieutenant General Myint Swe, Lieutenant General Sein Win, Lieutenant General Soe Htut, and Lieutenant General Ye Aung.
The three sanctioned entities are Myanmar Ruby Enterprise, Myanmar Imperial Jade Co. Ltd., and Cancri (Gems and Jewelry) Co. Ltd. They are owned or controlled by, or have acted or intended to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly with the military.
The US Government identifies, as a result of the penalties, all property and interest in the property of the individuals and entities mentioned above, and any entity that is owned, directly or indirectly, 50 percent or more by them, individually, or with the person being blocked. others, which are located in the United States or are owned or controlled by a US person, are blocked and must be reported to OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control).
"If there is more violence against peaceful protesters, the Burmese military will find that today's penalties are just the first", Finance Minister Janet Yellen threatened when announcing the February 11 penalties.
