Video Of Officers Seizing Citizen Phone In COVID-19 Corpse Evacuation Is Deleted, Police Will Check The Truth

JAKARTA - A video showing the evacuation of the body of a COVID-19 patient is discussed by netizens, especially on Twitter. This is because, in the one-minute video, an officer was caught seizing a cellphone belonging to the resident who recorded the group and not returning it to the owner, but instead was placed on the fence of another resident's house.

This video was originally uploaded on an account belonging to the Police Public Relations Division, namely @DivHumas_Polri. However, the video disappeared after many netizens questioned the reasons for the officers seizing the cellphone as shown in the 35th second of the video.

Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus only said that he would check the incident.

"I'll check the truth later," said Yusri when contacted by VOI, Sunday, February 21

In this video, you can see a group wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and a man in black, long sleeves and gloves, pushing a coffin on a blue rubber boat. They walked in a narrow residential alley in the Kebon Pala area, East Jakarta.

Until finally, in the 35th second of this video, someone from the group appears running to a fence where a resident is filming the incident from inside the house. Furthermore, after taking the cellphone, while walking he seemed to be fiddling with it.

Furthermore, the officer with complete PPE seemed to place the cellphone carelessly on the black fence of another house and immediately walked with the other group.

The action of this officer immediately became the spotlight and raised questions.

"That was in the 35th second, why did you seize people's cellphones?" said the Twitter account @canotnaisme, which re-uploaded the video.

Previously, the Special Team for Monitoring COVID-19 bodies from the Directorate of Crime Prevention Unit of Metro Jaya Police evacuated the bodies of COVID-19 patients who were trapped in floods for burial.
