BNN RI Admits That It Did Not Interfere With The Domestic Violence Cases Carried Out By Its Members

JAKARTA - AF (42) an employee of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNN RI) was arrested by the police and became a suspect after committing acts of Domestic Violence (KDRT) against his wife in the Bekasi area, West Java.

Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of BNN RI, Brigadier General Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono, said that the Inspectorate and supervisory board (Dewas) of the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) immediately carried out a search related to the domestic violence.

"This (KDRT) problem is sensitive. Of course, the BNN leadership must be careful in the process of taking action to be able to resolve it," he said when confirmed, Thursday, January 4.

In addition, Brigadier General Pudjo explained that the BNN RI would not interfere with the legal process for the domestic violence handled by the Bekasi City Metro Police.

"BNN really respects the law enforcement process being carried out by the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia. In this case, the Bekasi City Resort Police," he said.

BNN RI, said Brigadier General Sulistyo, respects the stages or steps taken by the Bekasi City Metro Police which has named AF as a suspect.

As is known, AF is suspected of Article 44 paragraph 4 of Law (UU) number 23 of 2004 regarding the elimination of domestic violence, in this case against his wife with the initials YA (29).

In addition, Pudjo emphasized that BNN would not interfere if later the case would roll on the court.

"We say we will not interfere, because it is the duty and authority of the Indonesian police. We have great respect," he said.

The existence of the domestic violence incident carried out by its employees, BNN RI deeply regrets the incident. The domestic violence case is considered not only to have an impact on the perpetrator's wife with the initials YA, but also on their children.

"BNN RI hopes that during the legal process, three AF and YA children can immediately receive psychological assistance from related parties in the hope of not experiencing trauma," he said.
