No Document Bags, Timika Quarantine Rejects 6 Vegetable Boxes From Purwakarta Regency
PAPUA - Timika Agricultural Quarantine Office in Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province refused vegetable seeds without official documents from Purwakarta Regency, West Java Province.Mimika Plant Quarantine Officer Louissa Petronela Wakano said that starting in 2024 the Central Papua Agricultural Quarantine in the working area of Amamapare rejected six boxes of vegetable seeds from Purwakarta Regency."We reject vegetable seeds after going through a period of detention since December 2023," he said in a press statement to ANTARA in Jayapura, Tuesday, January 2.According to him, officers received information from quarantine officers who supervised and examined that there was a carrier media in the form of fruit and vegetables in the storage area belonging to a company."In the storage area, two boxes of tomato seeds were found, one box of shallot seeds, one box of cucumber seeds, one box of celery seeds, and one box of spinach seeds without quarantine certificate documents," he said.He explained that his party had detained and refused for violating the provisions of Law (UU) Number 21 of 2019 article 35."In Law 21 of 2029 article 35 it is emphasized that anyone who enters or issues a carrier media from an area within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia is required to attach a certificate," he said.Head of the Timika Agricultural Quarantine Office, Ferdi added, for officials at this agency to take action in accordance with Law Number 21 of 2019 and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
"The steps and efforts carried out by the Timika Agricultural Quarantine Officer are a form of complying with the Quarantine in the Central Papua region," he said.
