Gojira Releases The Single Song Born For One Thing, Confrontative But Full Of Love

JAKARTA - The progressive metal gang from France, Gojira, will release a new album that fans have been waiting for. Fortitude, as the title suggests, is scheduled to be released on April 30 via Roadrunner Records.

The first single, Born For One Thing, was released on February 17 yesterday. The song is available on all streaming platforms and includes the official music video directed by Charles De Meyer in France and Belgium.

Available for pre-order from the day of the single's release, Fortitude is Gojira's first album in five years. This is the follow-up to Magma released in 2016.

As if to shed their skins and show off their armor, Born For One Thing represents a natural evolution for this French phenomenal band: exaggerated but unbending, confrontational yet full of love.

"We have to practice getting away from everything, starting with the real things," said vocalist/guitarist Joseph Duplantier of the song's anti-consumerist message, which was inspired in part by the Tibetan and Thai philosophers he read as a youth in France.

"Take less ownership, and give what you don't need, because one day we will have to give up everything, and if not, we will just be ghosts trapped between dimensions," he continued.

Recorded and produced by Joseph Duplantier at Silver Cord Studio - Gojira's headquarters in Ridgewood, Queens - and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine), Fortitude is a collection of songs that encourage humanity to imagine a new world - and then make it a reality.

The band initially laid the foundations for Fortitude last year with the release of the single Another World. This song was showered with positive responses from both fans and the media.

Fortitude itself continues the tradition throughout Gojira's career of utilizing their music as a vehicle for environmental activists with songs such as Amazonia and The Chant. Not only does it survey critical cases, but it also catalyzes listeners to take action.
