Firli Bahuri Absent From Examination Today, Even Though Investigators Want To Be Questioned About Wealth
The inactive chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri, is absent from being questioned as a suspect in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, at Bareskrim Polri, today. In fact, investigators will explore about his assets."The purpose of the examination or additional request for information to be made against the suspect FB is to ask for information about all his assets, as well as the property of his wife, children and family," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak in his statement, Thursday, December 21.The deepening of Firli Bahuri's assets is considered important in the series of investigations into the alleged extortion case. Moreover, investigators found new facts about the assets belonging to the inactive KPK Chairman who was not registered in the State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN)."Investigators obtained new facts about the existence of other assets or assets that were not reported in the LHKPN and have not been explained by the suspect FB in the investigation report of the previous suspect," he said.The deepening of the matter of property is also said to be in accordance with Article 28 of Law 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.The article contains the interests of the investigation, the suspect is obliged to provide information about all his property and the property of his wife or husband, children and property of each person or corporation known and or suspected of having links to the criminal act of corruption committed by the suspect.However, Firli Bahuri could not fulfill the summons for examination as a suspect. The reason is that there are important activities that cannot be abandoned, one of which provides information at the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas).In fact, Firli Bahuri was not present at the KPK Council examination.That way, investigators considered that the reasons presented by Firli through his attorney were unnatural."Investigators consider that the reasons presented in the letter are not considered appropriate and reasonable reasons," said Ade.Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri has been questioned twice as a suspect on December 1 and 6, 2023.
Firli was named a suspect based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22. However, until now no detention has been made.In this case, Firli Bahuri was charged with Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
