IKN Authority Collaborates With Komnas HAM And KPK To Strengthen Corruption Eradication

PENAJAM PASER UTARA - The Archipelago Capital Authority cooperates with the National Human Rights Commission and the Corruption Eradication Commission to strengthen the synergy of eradicating corruption and implementing human rights in the development stage of the Nusantara State Capital (IKN)

As a first step, the three institutions have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Nusantara Construction Worker Residential in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, Tuesday, December 19.

"We (The IKN Authority) welcome the collaboration with the KPK and Komnas HAM. From the start, we wanted the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) pattern to be implemented and have a good track record. Therefore, this supervision really helped us achieve these ideals," said Head of the IKN Authority Bambang Susantono in his statement quoted by ANTARA.

The interim chairman of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, fully supports the existence of a monitoring system that will be established by the KPK together with the IKN Authority.

According to him, the two main tasks of the KPK, namely preventing corruption and supervising the implementation of the government system, will be able to run optimally with the signing of this MoU.

"KPK believes that the step to signing this memorandum of understanding is the right step by maximizing the cooperation and supervisory functions that we (KPK) carry out in implementing the government system at the IKN Authority," explained Nawawi.

In the MoU with the KPK, the synergy of cooperation between the IKN Authority and the KPK was formed in several scopes, including preventing corruption, monitoring government operations, increasing human resource capacity, socialization and anti-corruption campaigns, providing resource persons and experts, as well as exchanging information and/or data.

The Head of the IKN Authority also said that he had strongly anticipated the existence of "shares" in this authority.

"There are three sharings'' that we are wary of and not doing, namely distributing projects, distributing positions where we have opened an open acceptance selection, and finally distributing lots where we always ask for an audit from the BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency)," said Head of the IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono.

In line with this, the Chairman of Komnas HAM Atnike Nova Sirigo is enthusiastic about being able to carry out direct supervision of the fulfillment of human rights in the development of IKN.

"We see that there are two forms of good human rights fulfillment. First, how to provide construction workers' housing that provides appropriate conditions for workers and does not burden their psychology. The second is the reforestation effort launched in the capital city of the archipelago as a form of appreciation to the environment," explained Atnike.

"With this MoU, we will carry out direct supervision and assist advocacy for the fulfillment of the rights of all parties in the development of the capital city of the archipelago," he added.

Cooperation in ensuring that human rights is enforced in the development of IKN is also established with the MoU between the IKN Authority and Komnas HAM with a scope of including observations of the human rights situation in the IKN development process, the preparation of human rights studies in the lKN development process, the mainstreaming of human rights in the preparation of IKN development policies, strengthening human rights awareness and supporting the facilities and infrastructure for the implementation of the mandate of Komnas HAM in IKN.

The Head of the IKN Authority added that the IKN Authority is very open to the KPK and Komnas HAM to have an office in the archipelago. He said that this would facilitate collaboration and coordination after the signing of this MoU.
