Regarding Rupiah Trillion Transactions In Elections, Jokowi: There Must Be A Legal Process
BOGOR - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) responded to the findings of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) regarding the alleged transaction of political parties worth trillions of rupiah related to the 2024 General Election. Jokowi ensured that there would be a legal process if the transactions were illegal. "Everything illegal is seen. In accordance with the rules, there must be a legal process," said Jokowi after inaugurating the Otista Bridge in Bogor City, Tuesday 19 December. Jokowi asked all parties including law enforcement to comply with the regulations so that the 2024 election runs honestly and fairly. Everyone must follow the existing rules,'' said Jokowi. Previously, the General Elections Commission (KPU) acknowledged the findings of transactions worth trillions of rupiah by PPATK related to the 2024 General Election. The data is a recording of the flow of funds towards the accounts of political party treasurers throughout the period April to October 2023.' The data will only be provided in the form of global data, not detailed, only in the form of the total amount of banking financial transaction data. Thus the KPU cannot provide further comments," said KPU Commissioner Idham Holik yesterday. Idham revealed that the KPU will only coordinate further with political parties and all participants of the 2024 election series. On that occasion, the election organizers will only give warnings and socialization.

The main discussion in the socialization will focus on the maximum limit of campaign fund donations, as well as the origin of prohibited funds. Idham said that the source of the legitimate campaign funds had been regulated in the applicable laws and regulations. "If this is violated by election participants, it will definitely be subject to sanctions," said Idham.
