For The Sake Of The Nation And The State, Mahfud MD Asks Students In Padang Not To Refuse To Play Politics
JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president (cawapres) number three, Mahfud MD emphasized that caring for democracy is tantamount to defending the nation. There are various ways that can be done, including carrying out the general election (election) in a healthy manner.
This was conveyed by Mahfud when filling out the National Oration at Bung Hatta University, Padang, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Monday, December 18. He said that the election was actually a mechanism for managing various views and political flows.
"Democracy countries, if there is no election, then it cannot be called a democratic country. The constitution limits the territory of power and time, routinely evaluates leadership," Mahfud said in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, December 19.
This reason made Mahfud ask the interests of the nation and state to be number one in each election. Thus, divisions can be avoided.
"This is an invitation to choose a common leader. Not to eliminate the enemy. Unite after fighting, whoever is elected, is our leader," he said.
Students are asked to actively oversee the election, said Mahfud. They are asked to choose the best or least ugliness.
Moreover, continued Mahfud, apathy tends to be a victim of political decisions. So, all must choose to prevent bad people from leading
"Don't say you don't want to participate in politics," he said.

Furthermore, Mahfud reminded that the election must be held honestly, fairly, and without coercion. "Don't want to be terrorized, press it, let alone want to buy its voice," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).
According to religious teachings, people who choose to be bribed, do not match conscience, it is like an animal. The conscience is not alive. Want to choose that, given money so it changes, so he doesn't use conscience. Have eyes and ears but doesn't see and hear the truth," concluded Mahfud.
