Fire In Kwitang Kills One Elderly, 3 Others Injured

JAKARTA - As many as 3 residents suffered burns and 1 other resident died as a result of a fire that hit 14 densely populated houses in RT 05, 06 RW 04 Jalan Kramat Kwitang 1c, Kwitang Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta on Monday, December 18, this morning.

Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal confirmed that there were victims in a fire that hit a dense area in Kwitang, Senen.

"There were four victims, namely two residents suffered minor burns, one child, and one parent named Mrs. Amsah (80) died at the hospital," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal to VOI, Monday, December 18, afternoon.

The extinguishing process was completed at around 09.00 WIB. However, until now officers are still localizing the location of the fire to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished and there is no lighting.

"The area burned was 72 square meters. In total there were 14 houses that were burned down due to an electrical short circuit from one of the houses. The loss was estimated at IDR 252 million," he said.

The social impact of the fire in the Kwitang area, as many as 80 people were forced to lose their homes and evacuate at the evacuation post. Meanwhile, the fire case was handled by the Senen Police.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Senen Police, Iptu Asep Dadang, said that his party would deploy the Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) of the National Police Headquarters to find out the cause of the fire.

"Currently, it is suspected that there was an electrical short circuit. We will investigate the origin of the fire by deploying a Puslabfor Police Headquarters," he added.

Previously, it was reported that densely populated settlements on Jalan Kramat Kwitang, Kwitang Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta, were scorched by fire, Monday, December 18, morning. Luckily, there were no casualties as a result of this fire incident.
