Opening The ASEAN-Japan Summit, Jokowi Invites A Comprehensive Partnership Implementation
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo leads the agenda of 4 High-Level Conferences (KTT) for the 50th Anniversary of Friendship Relations and Cooperation of ASEAN-Japan, in Tokyo, Japan, Sunday, December 17. In the agenda with the theme "Partners for Co-Creation of Economic and Society of The Future", the Head of State explained a number of priorities in the ASEAN-Japan economic partnership. One of them is related to strengthening food and energy security. In the food sector, the President said that ASEAN-Japan must strengthen collaboration to increase productivity and sustainability through the development of fertilizer availability technology and the alignment of agricultural commodity standards. While in the energy sector, the President said that Japan plays an important role in helping ASEAN accelerate energy transitions, including through the formation of the Asia Zero Emission Center that PM Kishida has announced.

Other priorities are related to the acceleration of digital transformation. Based on data, ASEAN's digital economy potential is very large, which is estimated to reach 1 trillion US dollars by 2030 and will be accumulated with the launch of the ASEAN Digital Economy (DEFA) of up to 2 trillion US dollars.
