Police Deploy Bomb Disposal Guard Soetta At Peak Christmas And New Year 2024 Moments

The National Police's Bomb Disposal Unit (Jibom) was deployed to guard Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) Tangerang, Banten, during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.

"The jibom troops are actually not on alert, it's just that during the Christmas and New Year periods, we will increase their security again in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area," said Executive General Manager (EGM) Soetta Airport Dwi Ananda Wicaksana in Tangerang, Friday, December 15, confiscated by Antara.

He said the Jibom unit was deployed to anticipate possible security disturbances. The reason is, during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays, passenger movements in the Soetta Airport area are estimated to have jumped to 12.5 percent.

Furthermore, Dwi explained, his party had deployed 4,000 joint personnel to secure during the peak season for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024.

The personnel prepared during the security, consisting of Aviation Security personnel, Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting, Apron Movement Control, Customer Service, Terminal Inspection Service, Digital Service, TNI / Polri, Immigration, Customs and Excise, KKP and others.

"Unlike the previous Christmas and New Year period, this time we are working with the TNI Puspom to coordinate all TNI at Soetta Airport," he said.

According to him, the focus of handling during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 periods is carried out at all terminals at Soetta Airport. Later, the area inside Soetta Airport will be thickened by officers to be able to provide maximum service to passengers.

Thus, the accumulation of passengers in certain areas at the airport can be avoided first.

"Then we did a thickening in the check-in area which has now become a public area in Terminals 1, 2 and 3, so that officers can do profiling and show a sense of security for service users at Soekarno-Hatta Airport," he said.

Angkasa Pura II, has also predicted an increase in passengers in the airport area on D-3 Christmas and D-2 New Year 2024. Where, at that momentum passenger movement was the highest at 170 thousand with 1,050 to 1,090 aircraft movements.

In addition, his party prepared 4.38 million passenger seats for flights during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year transportation periods.

The preparation of 4.38 million seats is considered sufficient to support requests from airlines at 20 airports which are projected to reach 4.03 million passengers during the Christmas and New Year 2024 periods.

In line with this projection, AP II together with other parties have coordinated to ensure the availability of aircraft passenger seats according to the request for additional flights (extra flight) from airlines at 20 airports, namely 2,833 extra flights in the Nataru 2023/2024 period consisting of 2,737 extra flights for domestic routes and 96 extra flights for international routes.

The airports brought in the management of AP II also ensure the readiness of service facilities to accompany family trips, such as playgrounds for children, tournament rooms and other facilities.

Fast track facilities in the security check point area are also prepared for elderly passengers or families who carry small children.
