Lifted Sound Band, Sultan Rifat Al Fatih, Victim Of Air Cable Using Electrolarynx To Speak
JAKARTA Sultan Rifat Al Fatih, a victim of fiber optic aerial cables in South Jakarta, has returned from the Police Hospital. Fatih as the Sultan's father revealed that his son's condition continued to improve even though his voiceband had to be removed.
"Now there is no more sound from the mouth, because the sound band has been removed (during the operation)," Fatih said in a short message, Wednesday, December 13.
Then how can the Sultan speak?
Dijelaskan oleh Fatih, anaknya kini menggunakan alat bicara digital Electrolarynx (EL) agar bisa berkomunikasi.
Electrolarynx is a battery-powered handheld device that is an alternative to reviving sounds by giving vibrations to the neck muscles.
According to Fatih, EL is an easy-to-use and simple alternative, but EL's sound is not natural (like a robot), monotonous, and has low quality so further development is needed to improve sound quality and usage convenience.
"Use a tool called digital Electrolarynx," he said.
Fatih also shared a video when the Sultan spoke using Electrolarynx.

"I want to say thank you very much, for the effort (business-ed) issued by media friends. Thank you to the people who have prayed for me. Always be healthy everyone," said Sultan from the video recording.
Fatih hopes that the Sultan can continue his studies at Brawijaya University. In addition, he hopes that his son can live his life without the help of others.
"Hopefully, the Sultan can continue and complete his studies at UB (Brawijaya University), then continue his studies after graduating at LN (outside the country). The most important thing is that the Sultan can live his life in normal conditions, without depending on other people for daily activities," he concluded.
Sultan had an accident due to being entangled in an optical fiber cable on Jalan Antasari, South Jakarta. The incident began when the Central Sultan spent a semester off with high school friends. They went on a motorbike towards TB Simatupang Street and then turned left towards Pangeran Antasari Street.
While walking along Jalan Pangeran Antasari, suddenly there was an SUV that stopped in front of the victim's motorbike because there was a fiber optic cable across the road.
"Because the fiber optic cable was made of steel fiber, the cable did not break when interested in several meters. The cable turned to the back and pinched my son's neck (Sultan). Immediately, my son immediately fell due to a cable trap," Fatih said at that time, Saturday, July 29. The unconscious victim was immediately taken by his friends and a number of other road users to the Fatmawati Central General Hospital (RSUP) Jakarta.
"(The doctor) sentenced my son that his throat or young bones in his throat were broken, and it fell apart from what was called the offline, or like the jakun was released," said Fatih.
