Mount Anak Krakatau Erupts Again, 600 Meters Of Ash Colon

South LAMPUNG - Mount Anak Krakatau in the waters of the Sunda Strait, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, experienced an eruption with a column height of ash observed about 600 meters above the peak or about 757 meters above sea level.

Head of the Mount Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post in Hargopancuran, Rajabasa District, South Lampung, Andi Suardi explained that the eruption occurred at 12.02 WIB.

"There was an eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 12:02 WIB. The height of the eruption column was observed at approximately 600 meters above the peak of 757 meters above sea level," Andi said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 13.

The height of the eruptive column was observed to be about 600 meters above the peak or about 757 meters above sea level.

"The ash column was observed to be gray with moderate intensity, leaning towards the northeast. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 65 mm and a duration of 40 seconds," he said.

"Currently Mount Anak Krakatau is at Level III, Alert, with the recommendations of the community, fishermen, mountain climbers, not approaching the mountain with a radius of five kilometers," said Andi.
