Central Java Residents Asked To Be Alert To The Spread Of COVID 19 ERIS Ahead Of Christmas And New Year

Central Java (Central Java) Police appealed to the public to maintain health conditions to face the celebrations of Christmas Day 2023 and New Year 2024. This is in response to the circulation of news of the new variant of COVID 19 which has recently been widely reported.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Central Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Sumy Hastry Purwanti, in his statement Wednesday, December 13.

It was revealed that based on data from the Ministry of Health, the COVID-19 ERIS (Sub Variants EG.5 and EG.2) cases experienced a significant spike in Indonesia.

"Based on the information obtained, COVID 19 ERIS is still a derivative of the Omicron COVID 19 variant, but has higher transmission," he said.

Symptoms are also relatively mild, namely, cough, runny nose, fever, nausea, vomiting. Meanwhile, complaints of loss of sense of smell and taste are relatively rarer.

However, he appealed to the public not to underestimate, especially for the elderly and for those who have chronic or congenital diseases because COVID 19 ERIS can be dangerous and threaten the lives of the sufferers.

As for the steps that need to be taken if you feel symptoms of not feeling well, such as coughing, colds, fever, to immediately wear a mask and reduce contact with the surroundings.

"Don't forget to immediately go to the doctor or clinic to determine the right diagnosis of the illness," he continued.

He also asked people who have not had time to get the vaccine to go to the local health facility to get the COVID 19 vaccination or 19th Boster C Vaccine.

In this regard, the Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police asked the public not to panic, he also appealed to the public to maintain a common health condition ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

"There is no need to panic, let's take care of ourselves and our loved ones while still adhering to health protocols. Hopefully the Christmas and New Year celebrations will soon arrive, we will all be given health and be able to gather with our families in an atmosphere full of happiness," he concluded.
