Brazil's First Lady Social Media Account Hacked, Government Investigates And Requests Blocking

Rosangela's social media account "Janja" Silva, First Lady of Brazil, allegedly hacked on Monday, December 11, triggered local authorities to open an investigation and asked Elon Musk's company, X, to freeze his profile.

The alleged hacker posted several messages on Janja's account, including insults to the first lady and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, as well as harsh words against women.

The post was deleted on Tuesday morning, December 12.

The Brazilian government said federal police had opened an investigation into the incident, while the attorney general's office said it had sent a request to X - formerly known as Twitter - to block Janja's account but maintain all records.

"Various appropriate steps are being taken," the government said in a statement. "Crimes, misogynic speech, hatred, and intolerance on social media will not be tolerated."
