Campaign Performance Equipment Prohibited From Installing In Yellow Plate Vehicles: Here's The Reason

YOGYAKARTA - Since November 28, 2023 has officially entered the General Election campaign period until February 10, 2024. Campaign props (APK) have started to spread everywhere, this is a sign of the start of the election. However, there are regulations that campaign props are prohibited from being installed in yellow plate vehicles, why?

In order not to violate the provisions, the installation of the APK has been regulated in Law No. 7 of 2017 and PKPU No. 15 of 2023.

In the 2024 election, campaign props can be in the form of billboards, banners, and embankments. Not only that, the provisions for this year's props are different, one of which is the absence of size provisions for campaign props equipment.

Quoted from the Keerom. Bawaslu, campaign props in general are at least prohibited from being installed in the following places:

Not only that, but the Election Supervisory Agency or Bawaslu also prohibits the installation of all types of campaign attributes in public transportation, one of which is TransJakarta.

The leadership of the Indonesian Bawaslu, Rahmat Bagja, reported that candidates or presidential and vice-presidential candidates had been warned about the provisions. "It is not allowed, public facilities should not be used, for example, public transportation (city transportation) is not allowed, the yellow plate is not allowed. Transjakarta buses include yellow plates, right, that's not allowed," said Bagja on December 7, 2023.

According to Bagja, the regulation has been socialized to the regional level. He also said that public transportation is a jointly owned facility so that all campaign activities are not allowed to disturb public comfort.

"If you want friends (candidates and candidates) you can make branding cars, just rent them, then stick them with stickers," said Bagja.

Even so, the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team once criticized the action of the Purwakarta Regency Transportation Service (Dishub) and Bogor City, West Java, which prohibited the installation of APKs on public transportation or angkots.

The ban is considered by TPN Ganjar-Mahfud with threats. "This kind of oligarchic practice must be cut off. The appeal and prohibition with threats from the Purwakarta Regency Transportation Agency and the Bogor City Transportation Agency must be canceled," said TPN Deputy for Law Ganjar-Mahfud, Todung Mulya Lubis on December 5, 2023.

However, the Transportation Agency argued that the ban was to protect the conduciveness of passengers. "Regarding this above, to protect conduciveness, security, discipline, as well as passenger comfort and to implement the Minimum Public Transportation Service Standard," reads the circular on November 30, 2023.

Not only that, but the letter is also the result of a meeting with the KPU, Bawaslu, and political parties participating in the election.

"Paying attention to the results of the Coordination Meeting on the Point of Installation of Election Campaign Equipment Equipment on November 23, 2023, with the KPU of Purwakarta Regency, Bawaslu of Purwakarta Regency, Regional Apparatus Organizations adrift along with political parties participating in the election," the letter read.
