Perpetrators Of Burning Jayapura Regency Government Office Become Suspects
JAKARTA - The Jayapura Resort Police (Polres), the Papuan Police, appointed AR (22) as the perpetrator of the burning of an office building belonging to the Jayapura Regency Government and the Ministry of Religion in the Mount Merah Doyo area, Jayapura Regency.
"The Jayapura Police have arrested AR, the perpetrator who set fire to three locations in the office area in Doyo," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Prabowo, quoted from Antara, Sunday night, December 10.
He explained that the perpetrators of the AR crime were revealed to have set fire in three locations, two of which were in the office area belonging to the Jayapura Regency Government in Mount Merah Doyo.
From the results of the examination, he said, it was revealed that initially on August 31, 2023, the perpetrator set fire to the Jayapura Regency Ministry of Religion Office building, then October 28, 2023, again set fire to Building A on the 2nd floor of the office owned by the Jayapura Regional Government.

Dai added that AR also burned an excavator heavy equipment unit in the Doyo area, and the perpetrator was arrested on November 24, 2023 at a rented house in Sentani.
Benny said investigators have now named AR as a suspect under the alleged article, namely Article 187 (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 12 years.
When asked whether the suspect in carrying out the action himself was carried out, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police stated that this was still being investigated by the Jayapura Police.
"Investigations are still being carried out to reveal a number of fire cases in the Jayapura Regional Government office area," said Benny.
