Deontay Wilder Ensures He Doesn't Want To Retire In The Near Future

JAKARTA The former heavyweight champion from the United States, Deontay Wilder, confirmed that he was still very far from retiring.

Wilder insists he has not thought about retiring amid his preparations against former heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, December 23, 2023.

"I'm still young, I'm just 38 years old," Wilder said on The Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer, quoted by Boxing Scene.

Wilder had previously considered retiring after suffering a brutal knockout defeat against Tyson Fury in their third duel in 2021.

However, he then returned to the ring last year against Robert Helenius. At the clash Wilder came out victorious after hitting his opponent's knockout in the first round.

Now Wilder is getting ready to get into the ring again against Parker. The duel of the two fighters is on the same card as Anthony Joshua versus Otto Wallin.

"I didn't experience much damage to myself. I'm still sexy, I'm still talking very well. I'm still energetic. I think I'm an experienced fighter at the moment," he said.

Wilder is recorded to have fought 46 times at the professional level. Of these, he won 43 times, lost twice, and ended in a series one time.

The two defeats were against Fury in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Before the two defeats, he got a draw with the same opponent in 2018.
