Three People Died and One Critical in Shooting at the University of Nevada, Perpetrator Killed
JAKARTA - Three people were killed and another was critical in a shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on Wednesday, while the perpetrator was later found dead, authorities said.
Authorities have not identified the victims. Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether the suspect was shot dead by police or committed suicide, according to Reuters, December 7.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in X, gunfire was reported in the vicinity of Beam Hall, a campus building that houses the business school and other facilities.
The first reports of the incident came in around noon, and within about half an hour Las Vegas police reported: "The suspect has been located and is deceased."
Meanwhile, university police spokesman Adam Garcia said that after receiving a call reporting a shooting on campus, law enforcement officers "immediately responded and located the suspect."

Meanwhile, university professor Vincent Perez told MSNBC by telephone that he heard multiple gunshots before taking cover.
"I said seven, eight shots, one after another, hard and very hard," he said.
"As soon as we heard it, we ran back inside and we realized this was a real shooting, and there was an active shooter on campus," he continued.
Official details regarding the incident remain unclear.

Meanwhile, Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said there was no longer a threat to the public. However, UNLV's main campus and other branches of the university were closed for the day as a precaution.
Officers were still searching every building on the sprawling site to ensure "there were no victims or additional victims," the sheriff said.
It is known that the University of Nevada, located less than two miles east of the Las Vegas Strip, has approximately 25,000 undergraduate students and 8,000 graduate students and doctoral candidates.
