Jokowi Invites The Community To Preserve The Endemic Tree Of NTT Cendana
KUPANG - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited the people of Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) to preserve the Cendana Tree (cheatlum album) in symbolic tree planting activities in the agriculture complex next to the NTT Governor's Office. "Therefore, we continue to plant the endemic NTT plant whose name is Cendana as much as possible," said President Joko Widodo to reporters after planting trees in Kupang, quoted by ANTARA Wednesday, December 6. President Jokowi supports reforestation efforts in NTT through the joint movement of planting 909 plant plants in Kupang. After that, he also watered the plant which is a type of original endemic plant, there were also aesthetic group plants and fruit groups planted by tree planting participants. In that activity, Jokowi was accompanied by the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya as well as the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono. Jokowi seemed to close the treelings with soil using cangkul tools. After that, he also watered the plant several times. After that, Jokowi explained that the effort to plant this tree was also a form of support for the arrangement of Kupang City as the capital city of NTT Province. The purpose of the arrangement, he said, was for the City of Kupang to become a green city with good public services. "We help the arrangement of cities in Kupang City both in Kelapa Lima, Oesapa, Old City, we begin to organize, improve, later we have not decided, so that the City of Kupang will be greener, good urban planning, public services are also good," said Jokowi.

On that occasion, he also had an idea regarding the price of foodstuffs at the Oebobo Market in Kupang which he had just visited. Jokowi said, the price of onions and chilies in NTT was observed to be quite good when compared to Java Island. "Inflation must be maintained so that people's purchasing power is not eroded," he emphasized.
