Sued By Pretrial, KPK Ensures Investigation Of Alleged Bribery And Gratification Of Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights Eddy Hiariej In Accordance With Rules
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the investigation into the alleged bribery and gratification that ensnared the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Omar Sharief Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej is in accordance with the rules.
This was conveyed in response to Eddy's pretrial submission to the South Jakarta District Court (PN). Ali ensured that the legal process was carried out in accordance with the adequacy of evidence.
"We just want to convey that all the investigation processes that we carry out are of course in accordance with applicable legal provisions," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, December 5.
Even so, Ali said that pretrial submissions cannot be prohibited. This is the right of the suspect.
"We are certainly ready to face it, please as the suspect's right," he said.
Previously reported, the KPK had examined Eddy Hiariej on Monday, December 4. He was examined for seven hours by the anti-corruption commission investigators but he did not convey anything.
In this case, Eddy has been named a suspect along with three other people. He is suspected of receiving gratuities and bribes.
The KPK revealed that the form of gratification was allegedly in the form of receiving a sum of money related to the consultation and assistance for the ratification of a company's legal entity. The determination of the suspect based on an investigation warrant (sprindik) has been signed since two weeks ago.

The anti-corruption commission has also sent a letter to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the determination of Eddy Hiariej as a suspect. The letter was received by the Ministry of State Secretariat (Setneg) on Friday, December 1.
To investigate this case, the KPK has also asked the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to prevent four people from leaving the country. Apart from Eddy, those prevented were Yosi Andika Mulyadi and Yogi Arie Rukmana who were his personal assistants. Meanwhile, one private party is the President Director of PT Citra Lampia Mandiri Helmut Hermawan.
