12 Missing People Allegedly Buried In Landslides In Humbahas, Police Deploy Tracking Dogs

The North Sumatra Regional Police deployed sniffer dogs to help personnel search for victims of the flash floods and landslides in Simangulampe Village, Bakti Raja District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency (Humbahas).

"The North Sumatra Police dispatched a K9 unit or sniffer dog to help personnel search for victims who were missing due to a landslide;" said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) Kombes Pol Hadi Wahyudi, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, December 3.

He said the sniffer dogs were expected to help personnel work more optimally in searches in the disaster area.

"In addition, the North Sumatra Police also deployed heavy equipment to the disaster site to help evacuate," he said.

Previously, the North Sumatra Police had sent an additional troop of one platoon, consisting of Brimob and Sabhara to the disaster site.

According to Hadi, the Humbang Hasundutan Resort Police has deployed personnel to areas affected by the disaster since Friday (1/12) night.

"We have moved to the location to monitor developments and are trying to clear roads and evacuate victims," he said.

Efforts to deal with the impact of natural disasters in Simangumpe Village involve TNI, Polri, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Health Service, and residents.

A total of 12 people were reported missing when flash floods and landslides hit Simangulampe Village in Humbang Husundutan Regency on Friday (1/12) night at around 21.30 WIB.

The joint SAR team on Saturday found one of 12 people who were reported missing dead. Thus, there are still 11 disaster victims who have not been found.
