Former KPK Investigators Ask Firli Not To Be Absent From The Call Of The Metro Police Today

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo asked Firli Bahuri not to be absent from the summons of Polda Metro Jaya investigators regarding the alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities. The inactive KPK chairman will be questioned today, Friday, December 1.

"I hope Firli comes to fulfill the investigator's summons," Yudi told reporters quoted on Friday, December 1.

Yudi said Firli's statement as a suspect was very much needed in investigating allegations of extortion or receiving gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. So, he was asked not to be absent for any reason.

"The cooperative attitude without being absent from Firli Bahuri is a form of compliance with the law," he said.

"The drama when summoning witnesses must of course be abandoned and does not need to happen again, especially since the position is inactive and no longer involved in the KPK's duties. So there is no more reason for Firli," continued Yudi.

Moreover, Yudi said Firli had now been prevented from leaving the country. He could not avoid being called for any reason.

"Whether after being questioned as a suspect, Firli will be detained is of course the investigator's authority. However, before discussing whether Firli is detained or not, we will see if he is absent or present," said the former chairman of the KPK Employee Forum.

As previously reported, Firli Bahuri will be questioned as a suspect in the alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities. Through his attorney, he said he would attend.

"The legal advisor confirmed that FB will be present tomorrow morning for questioning in the suspect's capacity," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri to reporters, Thursday, November 30.

The plan is that the investigation of Firli will take place at the Directorate of Corruption Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit at around 09.00 WIB.

As for Firli, he was named a suspect after the case was filed by the Polda Metro Jaya. There were 30 witnesses examined as of Wednesday, November 29.

Of the dozens of witnesses, three of them are former officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, namely, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and former Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery (Alsintan) Muhammad Hatta.

Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri, who has the status of a suspect, is suspected of under Article 12e, 12B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Thus, it is threatened with life imprisonment.
