President Jokowi Arrives In Dubai For COP28 Climate Conference

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1 carrying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and a limited delegation landed at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday, at around 16.25 local time.

"President Jokowi and his delegation arrived in Dubai after a 10-hour flight from Jakarta to attend a conference of the parties within the framework of UN cooperation for climate change (COP28)," reads a written statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia.

Under the plane's stairs, President Jokowi was greeted by the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs UAE Thani Al Zeyoudi, Indonesian Ambassador to UAE Husin Bagis, Indonesian Defense Attache in Abu Dhabi Brigadier General Muhammad Irawadi, and UAE Ambassador to RI Abdulla Salem Obaid Al Dhaheri.

After shaking hands and greeting each other, President Jokowi headed for a series of vehicles that had been prepared, then headed to the hotel where he lived while in Dubai.

At the hotel, President Jokowi was greeted by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Ad Interim Erick Thohir, Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya Bakar, as well as Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim.

In addition, he also welcomed the arrival of President Jokowi, namely Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pahala Mansury, Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry Alue Dohong, Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati, and Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Dubai K Candra Negara.

While in Dubai, President Jokowi is scheduled to attend the COP28 World Climate Action Summit (WCAS). The President is also planning to hold a number of meetings with other country leaders.
