Voluntary Residents Hand Over Assembled Guns And Ammunition Remaining Conflict To The Aceh Tamiang Police

ACEH - The Tamiang Aceh Police confiscated a pistol-type homemade firearm along with a magazine and five rounds of ammunition left over from the conflict in Aceh Province.Aceh Tamiang Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Yanis said the firearms that were secured were the result of voluntary submission by a resident."We have received three voluntary handovers of firearms throughout 2023, one each. The handover of this homemade pistol is the third," he said in Aceh Tamiang, Antara, Tuesday, November 28.He said the voluntary handover of firearms was a raising and approaching by Aceh Tamiang Police personnel."Those who voluntarily handed over firearms were residents in Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang Regency," he explained.He asked people who still hold firearms, especially the rest of the conflict, to immediately hand them over to the nearest police force.The police, he said, would take firm action against anyone who uses illegal firearms for storing or using firearms illegally is a criminal act and is against the law."We urge the public if they know that someone has stored or used firearms illegally, immediately report it to the nearest police force," he said.In addition, the Aceh Tamiang Police Chief invited all parties in the area to jointly maintain security and public order (kamtimbas) ahead of the 2024 General Election.
"We invite everyone to maintain a conducive kamtibmas in Aceh Tamiang Regency. If the public knows there is a potential for disturbance to the kamtibmas, immediately report it to the local police," he explained.
