Bareskrim Investigate Allegations Of Leaks At The Constitutional Court Judge's Meeting On The Decision Of The Age Limit For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates
The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has begun to investigate the alleged leak of information from the Constitutional Court's Consultative Meeting (RPH) regarding the decision on the term limit for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates.The investigation was based on a police report (LP) from the Defenders of the Constitutional Pillars (P3K) which was registered with the number LP/B/356/XI/2023/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated November 8, 2023."We have received the report and we are currently carrying out an investigation," said the Director of General Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro when confirmed, Friday, November 17.For the development of the handling, the administrative process has been completed as an initial step in the investigation stage.Then, investigators have also asked for statements from five witnesses. The number will continue as the investigation process progresses."Currently we have clarified 5 witnesses and we are studying this case further," said Djuhandani.
As a reminder, the presidential and vice presidential age lawsuit was in the spotlight after the Constitutional Court (MK) granted it.At that time, the Constitutional Court issued a decision number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 which allowed regional heads not yet 40 years old as presidential and vice-presidential candidates.The Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) stated that constitutional judge Arief Hidayat and other constitutional judges were proven to have violated the code of ethics related to the leakage of RPH information.The violation occurred during the decision-making process in the RPH was leaked to the public and published in detail in a mass media.
