Starlink, Owned By Elon Musk, Wins IDR 1.3 Trillion Contract To Provide Free Internet In Mexico
JAKARTA - Starlink, a satellite internet service owned by billionaire Elon Musk, has secured a contract worth 1,56 billion pesos (Rp1.3 trillion) to provide free internet in Mexico until the end of 2026. This was announced by a Mexican government official on Wednesday, November 15.
Musk's company won the contract by offering the best price in a public tender offer, said Carlos Emiliano Calderon, Mexico's digital strategy coordinator, at a routine government morning press conference.

"Mexico has signed contracts for the free internet with nine companies, including Starlink," added Calderon.
Starlink will also provide infrastructure for Mexican state energy companies until December 2026.
The contract to cooperate with Mexico's Commission Federal de Electricidad (CFE) has a value of between 887.5 million pesos and 1.8 billion pesos.
