Heru Budi: Jakarta Has A Great Responsibility To Maintain Election Integrity

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono emphasized that Jakarta plays an important role in keeping the 2024 General Election on track.

Because, according to Heru, Jakarta is a barometer of economic, social, defense and security politics in Indonesia. This was conveyed by Heru at the DKI Jakarta Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) meeting.

"Jakarta has a big responsibility in maintaining election integrity (based on the 2024 election vulnerability index," said Heru at the Jakarta Metro Meeting Center (BPMJ) building, South Jakarta, Monday, November 13.

On the one hand, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) also established Jakarta as the most prone to election disturbances. Thus, Heru sees the need for mitigation and early detection measures to prevent potential vulnerabilities so as not to spread and disrupt stability.

Heru emphasized that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has committed to upholding professionalism by being neutral. Especially for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who have rules related to neutrality during elections.

"ASN must have permanent rules and procedures, so that DKI Jakarta ASN (hopefully) can carry out its duties by carrying out professionalism. Of course, we also do that to provide comfort for residents ahead of the 2024 election party," he said.

Heru also appealed to the public to play an active role in maintaining the peace and security of Java during the 2024 election. Acting Governor Heru hopes that community leaders and religious leaders can make a positive contribution in resolving differences of opinion that may arise during the campaign and general election process.

"We prove that the implementation of elections in Jakarta is peaceful, safe, quality, and dignified, with hard work, sincerity, and prayers. I am sure that the 2024 election in Jakarta will run successfully, safely, fairly, and peacefully," he added.
