7 Israeli Products That The World Is Boycotting, From Cellphone Brands To Sportswear
YOGYAKARTA - The heated conflict between Israel and the Hamas group has again angered the world community, because many innocent Palestinians have become its victims. Various criticisms were made of Israel, one of which was boycotting products from that country. So what Israeli products are being boycotted by the world?
A number of countries have firmly decided to carry out the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS is a consumer rejection or boycott movement to convince traders around the world to stop selling products from Israel. It is known that until now there are several products from Israel that have been boycotted by the world.
World Boycotted Products from Israel
The BDS movement is getting stronger along with Israel's heinous actions against Palestinians. The boycott movement was carried out to put economic pressure on Israel to stop carrying out attacks and grant equal rights to a Palestinian state.
As is known, products from Israel and brands that support the Zionist state are widely marketed and sell quite well in various countries. The following is a list of products from Israel that are boycotted by countries around the world:
HP
Hewlett Packard (HP) is a company that produces and develops various kinds of electronic devices. According to the BDS Movement, this HP brand company provides and operates technology used by the Israeli state to maintain a system of apartheid, occupation and colonialism over Palestinians.
In addition to facilitating services and technology for Israeli authorities, HP also provides exclusive Itanium servers to the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority for their Aviv systems. This brand, which is quite well known as a manufacturer of electronic devices, has also been blocked in several countries.
Puma
Puma is a well-known sports equipment brand. Puma products have also been boycotted by several countries because this brand is the sole international sponsor of the Israeli Football Association (IFA).
Puma even gives international legitimacy to the activities of IFA, a football club based in illegal Israeli settlements on the Palestinian plains. Puma's actions directly support violations of human rights and international law off the pitch.
Siemens
Siemens is Europe's largest industrial manufacturing company involved in Israel's illegal efforts to build the EuroAsia interconnector in the settlements. Siemens is working together to provide buildings and distributed energy systems that will connect Israel's electricity grid with Europe.
In the construction of the EuroAsia Interconnector, it is said that there are illegal settlements on Palestinian land that will be affected by the benefits of electricity trade between Israel and the European Union.
SodaStream
SodaStream is a refillable machine and cylinder product so users can make soda or carbonated water drinks easily. SodaStream products were also victims of the boycott because they were considered to be actively involved in Israel's policy of displacing the indigenous Palestinian Bedouin population in the Naqab.
Ahava
Ahava is a beauty product brand that is quite popular in several countries. Ahava Cosmetics products were also boycotted because they had production sites, drop-in centers and main stores in illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land.
AXA
AXA insurance products were also one of the victims because they were affiliated with the state of Israel. AXA is said to be investing in Israeli banks involved in the occupation of Palestinian land. A number of Israeli banks whose shares are controlled by AXA are Bank Leumi, Bank Hapoalim, and Mizrahi Tehafot.
Sabra
Hummus Sabra is a joint venture of PersiCo and Strauss Group. Sabra is an Israeli food company that provides financial support to the Israeli army, thus becoming a victim of the boycott.
