Amran Sulaiman's Profile, A Descendant Of King Of Bone And A Patent Holder Who Is Now A Minister Of Agriculture

Andi Amran Sulaiman was born on April 27 1968 in Bone, South Sulawesi. He is the fourth of 12 children. Amran himself has a father who is a non-commissioned officer with the rank of army sergeant.

It should be noted that Amran is apparently a descendant of blue blood, namely from La Pawawoi Arung Sumaling, who was the fourth child of the 23rd King of Bone, namely La Tenri Tappu. Amran himself has an older brother who is Governor of South Sulawesi for the 2022-2023 period, namely Andi Sudirman Sulaiman.

Amran's educational background apparently matches the position he currently holds because he holds a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Hasanuddin University (Unhas). After that, in 2002 he returned to continue his postgraduate education in Agriculture at the same campus. Meanwhile, his doctoral education in Agricultural Sciences was completed from 2008 to 2012 at Unhas.

In the academic field, Amran also served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture at the campus which was his alma mater. In fact, he became a researcher and holder of five patents in his name.

Apart from that, Amran has also worked at PT Perkebunan Nusantara or PTPN XIV. Quoted from Antara, at this state-owned company he served as head of logistics. Amran served in this company for 15 years until he decided to quit and set up his own company.

His experience at PTPN makes Amran continue to carry out various innovations in the agricultural sector. His efforts were not in vain. Over time, the Tiran Group has various business units such as pesticide producers, palm oil plantations, sugar, nickel mines, gold mines and gas stations.

Previously, President Jokowi trusted Amran to be Minister of Agriculture during the Working Cabinet era with the 2014-2019 term of office. When he was Minister of Agriculture, he had several programs such as self-sufficiency in 4 main food commodities, namely rice, corn, soybeans and sugar. Apart from that, he also has a program to improve irrigation systems in 11 provinces in the country.

Amran himself was also the volunteer coordinator for Friends of the People of Eastern Indonesia (KTI) during the 2014 presidential election. At that time he was the spearhead in winning the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla pair in KTI.

Most recently, Amran Sulaiman was finally appointed as Minister of Agriculture. The inauguration was broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube.

"Decided and determined to appoint Brother Andi Amran Sulaiman as Minister of Agriculture for the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet for the remaining term of office for the 2019-2024 period," said the decision read by Deputy for Apparatus Administration Nanik Purwanti.

After that the President also led the oath taking ceremony accompanied by clergy. "Please follow and repeat my words," said the President.

"By Allah, I swear that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. And will carry out the laws and regulations as strictly as possible for the sake of my devotion to the nation and state," said Jokowi, followed by Amran.

Amran himself became minister of agriculture replacing Syahrul Yasin Limpo who was named a suspect in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
