Purwakarta Regency Government Ensures Undisturbed Waste Disposal Of Cikolotok TPA Fire
PURWAKARTA - The Purwakarta Regency Government, West Java, ensures that activities at the Cikolotok waste final disposal site (TPA) are not disrupted despite a fire in the Cikolotok TPA area.
"The fire point at the TPA is indeed in a pile of garbage area, and the fire team can still reach it in the process of extinguishing it," said Acting Regent of Purwakarta Benni Irwan, while inspecting the location of the fire at TPA Cikolotok Purwakarta, Monday, October 16.
Land in the Cikolotok TPA area that is not affected is still relatively large. So that activities around the TPA and residents' activities are not disrupted due to the fire.
In accordance with information from the Purwakarta Fire Department and monitoring from the satellite, the area of land at the burned Cikolotok TPA reaches 3.3 hectares
It was stated that the hotspots that caused land fires at the Cikolotok TPA had now decreased. Previously there were about 10 points, now there are three hotspots left.
Meanwhile, to prevent the hotspots from spreading, firefighters are now assigned to guard the Cikolotok TPA area.
In handling the fire incident at the Cikolotok TPA, the Purwakarta Regency Government was assisted by the Police and the Purwakarta Kodim.
The fire at Cikolocok TPA previously occurred on Thursday (12/10). At that time the extinguishing process lasted for about 24 hours, and the fire was extinguished on Friday (13/10).

Based on data from the Purwakarta Fire Department, forest and land fires are prone to occur in Purwakarta.
In 2022, the fires that occurred in forest, plantation, and land areas reached 22 times with a total area of 17.26 hectares of the forest area in Purwakarta reaching 60,609.83 hectares.
