Vice President Emphasizes The Importance Of Solid Asia-Africa Overcoming Global Issues

DENPASAR - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized the importance of Asian African countries that are members of the Asia Africa Legal Consulting Organization (AALCO) to remain solid to address a number of global issues.

"AALCO must continue to revive the spirit of solidarity and fight for the voice of the Asian African nation in the formation of international law," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the opening of the 61st Asia Africa Legal Consulting Organization (AALCO) in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, Monday, October 16.

According to the Vice President, this solidarity is also to fight transnational crimes and restore assets resulting from transnational crimes.

Transnational crimes are mostly committed in marine areas and are detrimental to countries in Asia and Africa.

"I encourage AALCO to provide a solution concept that reflects the synergy and integrated response of the Asian-African nation to transnational crimes at sea that are life-threatening and economic growth," he said.

The Vice President also emphasized the importance of AALCO's role in establishing a legal framework that will become the foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships between countries.

Mainly in responding to various global problems that threaten the future of humanity and development.

Vice President Ma'ruf hopes that countries that are members of AALCO will present breakthrough solutions to the latest global issues, such as climate change and sustainable development, international trade and investment, marine issues, asset confiscation, and the development of artificial intelligence.

Currently, said the Vice President, all countries are mobilizing efforts to be able to navigate the digital revolution so that it can provide benefits and accelerate progress, not being a threat to the future of humans.

"AALCO is expected to contribute to designing a legal architecture that accommodates technological advances and artificial intelligence to support the noble ideals of the Asia-Africa Conference," he said.

Konferensi Asia-Afrika di Bandung pada 1955 merupakan cikal bakal kelahiran AALCO.Saat ini, Indonesia memimpin Keketuaan AALCO 2023 yang dipimpin Menteri Hukum dan HAM RI Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly selaku Presiden AALCO ke-61.

Regarding transnational crimes at sea, Minister Yasonna explained that in his 61st AALCO trial his party would ask for equal perceptions with Asian Africa, which is a member of the crime-related, including the theft of fish.

"We will try at the AALCO trial to convey the common perceptions and opinions of the AALCO state," he said.
