Mosque Charity Box Lost, Management: If The Perpetrator Is Arrested Don't Get Beaten, I'm Afraid He Will Need More Money
JAKARTA - A number of money in the charity box of the Ghairu Jami Baitul Rohman Mosque, North Kembangan, Kembangan District, West Jakarta, was stolen by thieves. Luckily, the perpetrator's actions were caught on CCTV surveillance cameras making it easier for the police to search.
The chairman of the Baiturrahman Mosque DKM, Muhammad Bahri, said that the incident of theft of charity boxes was the first time that the Ghairu Jami Baitul Rohman Mosque had experienced it.
"Only the first time, from the start the management until I took care of this new one," he said when confirmed, Tuesday, October 10.
Bahri said mosque charity boxes are usually able to accommodate millions of rupiah in charity in just two months.
"Usually sometimes every 2 months, it gets 4 million. So we'll see how much cash is in the treasurer, it's enough or not, if it's not enough, it's not dismantled first (a charity box)," he said.
Bahri said, in the CCTV footage, the perpetrator had been at the scene since dawn. The perpetrator also pretended to sleep when there was a recitation for the mothers.
"We people want to pray, no one is suspicious at all. So after that nothing calms down, it's called going to worship," he said.
The action of the perpetrator was known by the muadzin who wanted to perform the Asr prayer. Muadzin is in the warehouse where mik is, because he wants the call to prayer.
"Well, coincidentally, the voice was not good anymore, he thought it was a speaker repairman (the perpetrator), I didn't think about going here and there, so no one was suspicious," he said.

"The position of the money was finished (stolen). It looks like yes (the perpetrators are children), but I think it's an adult. That's him (in the action) the perpetrator only uses a screwdriver, it looks like he's a professional. (the perpetrator) managed to escape," he said.
Even so, Bahri admitted that he had not made an official police report. He hopes that the incident will not happen again.
"If you get caught, don't do anything (beat him), I'm afraid he will also need (very much money. Usually the money from the charity box for the operational costs of the mosque, pay for the lights, pay for the recitation until you pay for regular recitation," he explained.
