Commission III Of The House Of Representatives Asks For Shooting Of Residents In Central Kalimantan Palm Oil Plantation To Be Completely Investigated
Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Taufik Basari, asked the police to investigate the shooting of residents who allegedly resulted in the death toll in a riot in the Seruyan oil palm plantation, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan). Taufik emphasized that the death toll in the demonstration should not occur.
According to him, the police should have understood the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) when securing citizen demonstrations.
Therefore, Taufik asked the National Police to trace the cause and ensure that no one should carry sharp bullets anymore in handling future demonstrations.
"I am concerned and regret that three residents were reported to have been shot, one of which was even reportedly killed," Taufik said in his statement, Tuesday, October 10.

The NasDem legislator for the Lampung electoral district also urged the police to thoroughly investigate the victim's fall in the demonstration. He reminded that the police, as mediators, should not be executors when dealing with residents' disputes with companies.
"Investigate and be transparent, it must be ensured that the perpetrators are arrested and processed in accordance with applicable legal provisions," he said.
In addition, said Taufik, it is necessary to restore Polri relations with local residents in order to maintain conduciveness in the area.
"Don't cause unwanted things. Also, it is necessary to study the root of the problem and the Police help solve it without violence," said Taufik.
It is known that the demonstration of residents took place in the company area of PT Hamparan Manawast Bangun Persada (HMBP) 1 in Bangkal Village, Seruyan Raya District on Saturday, October 7. The riots heated up after the mass of the action tried to move to occupy land at another location.
