Don't Run Away, Man City Wants To Extend Erling Haaland's Contract
JAKARTA - Manchester City plans to extend the contract of striker Erling Haaland. The club is also preparing a big salary for Haaland to forget about his desire to move to Real Madrid.
Man City remains wary of not wanting to lose their best asset. How not, Haaland has actually been a mainstay goal engine since being recruited from Borussia Dortmund for 51 million. But he could have left for another club.
Last season, Haaland was key when Man City won the trebles by winning the English Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. They also equaled Manchester United's neighbor's record. Haaland seemed very easy to tear up the opponent's goal because he scored 52 goals in 53 appearances in various competitions.
What about this new season? The sharpness of this 23-year-old striker did not decline even though it is currently a bit stalled. The striker of the Nrowegia national team has scored eight goals from seven matches. Halaand also brought Man City back to the top of the English Premier League standings.
Haaland's good performance made the club want to extend their contract soon. In fact, Haaland's contract is still four years away.
However, Man City rushed to renew it. In the new contract, the club included a player's release clause so Madrid could not easily bring Haaland.
In addition, Man City has definitely raised Haaland's salary to 400 thousand poudsterling or approximately 7.6 billion rupiah each week. Salaries that are high despite losing to midfielder Kevin De Bruyne who is the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
"So far, we will indeed discuss his future with us. Of course we want him to be with us for the next few years. But until now there has been no official offer [contract extension," the club source told The Telegraph.
"Erling is happy here. We are also happy that he is with us. So far everything has gone smoothly. We also want to know what his goal is and whether we can fulfill his expectations," he said.
Although successful at Man City, Haaland is likely not to linger at the Etihad. This is a concern of The Cityzens.
