Tanah Abang Market Traders Reveal Reasons For Not Wanting To Sell On TikTok Shop
JAKARTA - TikTok Shop is not fully utilized by all traders in Block A Tanah Abang Market. According to a number of traders at Tanah Abang Market, the TikTok Shop platform for them is not the main solution in overcoming the problem of the drop in merchant turnover.
According to Anisa (25), one of the accessories shop owners in Block A Tanah Abang Market explained that she did not use TikTok Shop because the selling price did not match the cost of shipping goods. Because the price of accessories sold in his shop is Rp. 10 thousand to Rp. 35 thousand.
"There is no (sale plan on TikTok Shop). The problem is it's complicated, if someone takes the unit, the postage will be big. Meanwhile, our goods cost Rp. 10 thousand, Rp. 20 thousand, Rp. 35 thousand, expensive. Later people will take it to TikTok, it's big to think again, confused again," said Anisa to VOI in Blok A Tanah Abang Market, Thursday, October 5.
According to Anisa, to fight the swift sales through TikTok, she is ready to lower the selling price. Like the price of the hijab accessories, which was previously worth Rp. 25 thousand, now it is sold for Rp. 10 thousand per pieces.

"That's why now many in many stores have been sold for 10 thousand, from the price of 25 thousand. Or 5 pieces, the price is 100 thousand, now it is 10 thousand. In order to compete with the price on TikTok," said Anisa.
Anisa admitted that apart from trading in the store, she also markets her selling goods on WhatsApp (WA). In fact, Anisa continued, she only serves orders through WA. She did not use any social media to help with sales.
"We only serve via WA, we can order via WA. We don't use social media either. Because it's difficult, the goods are only 10 thousand and the shipping hasn't yet. The price is the same as the postage. The cost of shipping fellow Jakarta is only 9 thousand," he said.
