Not Because It Was Canceled As A Vice Presidential Candidate, AHY Revealed The Disappointment Of The Democrats Because Some Were Not Honest

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) understands the situation of the reversibility of the cadres after the decision to be the presidential candidate for the Change Coalition for Unity (KPP), Anies Baswedan, who collaborated with PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar as his assistant vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

However, according to AHY, the disappointment of the cadres was not because he canceled his role as an Anies vice presidential candidate but because of the NasDem Party's decision which was claimed to unilaterally pair Anies with Cak Imin.

The dishonest attitude and violation of Anies and NasDem's commitments were considered to have exceeded the limit of propriety and hit political ethics.

"I know that Democratic cadres are angry and disappointed. Not because the chairman is not a vice presidential candidate, but because the Democratic struggle has been injured by those who are dishonest and violate the commitment of the agreement," said AHY at the DPP Democratic Party, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 4.

AHY also tried to calm the cadres and sympathizers to think clearly. He emphasized that the Democratic Party would not be broken by any political obstacles.

"Although we will not compromise on any political conspiracy," he quipped.

AHY also advised all Democratic Party cadres that there is no soft way to achieve big ideals.

He invited the cadres to continue the hard work that had been fought for, remain humble and also remain confident.

"I invite all of us to be grateful, because Allah SWT still loves us. It could be that this is God's way to save us from worse things," said AHY.

AHY also reminded cadres not to be trapped in narratives and issues that could divide fellow nation's children.

"We don't know that in the future we may meet again and collaborate on the national agendas," said AHY.
