Toyota Presents Additional Back Wing Options For GR86 To Optimize Aerodynamics
JAKARTA - In owning a vehicle, of course some vehicle owners have the intention of making small modifications to their car for personal satisfaction. Toyota, as an automotive manufacturer, is aware of this.
Because of this, Toyota announced an update to the rear wing device on the GR86 model. The back wing that resembles the neck of the goose is only available on the Japanese market.
Reporting from Motor1, Jum'at, September 1, the back wing is made of plastic reinforced with carbon fiber. The pillars are made of perpendicular aluminum.
Paired behind the vehicle, the installation point is located on the vertical part of the trunk cap. Toyota does not carelessly present this rear wing, this device is carefully developed by manufacturer engineers.
Toyota engineers designed its wings using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. The result is that the wings create downforce while minimizing air drags that help vehicle performance.
Toyota provides three settings for the back wing depending on how aggressive the desired angle is, namely 0 degrees, 1.25 degrees, and 2.5 degrees.

Even though it provides a separate back-wing option, Toyota recommends pairing the wing with the Aerodynamic package first. Otherwise, the aerodynamic equilibrium will lean towards the back.
The crocodile's neck wing is priced at 517.000 yen or around Rp53.9 million. Meanwhile, for the Aerodynamic package, which standardly costs 380,600 yen or equivalent to Rp39.7 million and the more expensive packages are priced at 492.800 yen or Rp51.4 million including aero noise cone, door mirror fins, rooftop fins, and side spoiler.
The aerodynamic device is intended for Toyota GR86. Equipped with a 2.4 liter 4-silinder engine that can make vehicles have 232 dk of power and 249 Nm of torque with a transmission of six manual or automatic accelerations.
