SAR Team Finds Climber's Body At Mount Pangkep Cliff
MAKASSAR - The Makassar Joint SAR Team finally found the body of a 24 year old climber named Fitrah Perdana who was reported missing for a week on the cliffs of Mount Bulu Sanrongan, Sigeri District, Pangkajene Islands (Pangkep) Regency, South Sulawesi.
"The Joint SAR Team has found the position of the dead victims on the cliff and immediately evacuated them down the mountain," said Head of the Makassar Basarmas Office, Mexianus Bekabel, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 1.
The victim was previously seen climbing the mountain since Friday, August 25 2023, until he was finally found dead and on a cliff because he was stuck between rocks.
The discovery of the climber's body, said Maxianus, was after the Joint SAR team's search process focused on the victim's sandals found the day before and the strong odor coming from the cliff towards the waterfall area around the incident location.
During the search the victim's body was seen by the Joint SAR Team under a ravine about 100 meters from where the sandals were found the day before. The victim's body was stuck between rocks.
"The process of evacuating victims was quite difficult because they had to climb a fairly steep cliff and only arrived at the foot of the mountain at around 12.00 WITA," said Mexianus.
