JAKARTA – The slots for clubs participating in the 2023/2024 European Champions League group phase are complete after the second qualifying leg was completed on Thursday, 31 August 2023 early morning of Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The last three tickets were obtained by FC Copenhagen, Royal Antwerp, and PSV Eindhoven. The three teams followed Braga, Young Boys, and Galatasaray, who also qualified through the same route.
In this morning's match, Copenhagen ensured they qualified after drawing 1-1 against Rakow Częstochowa. The result made them win 2-1 on aggregate.
Meanwhile, Antwerp escaped after beating AEK Athens 2-1 (3-1 aggregate). Then the last team, PSV, slaughtered Rangers 5-1 to win 7-3 on aggregate to qualify for the group stage.
These six teams will later join the top European teams who have previously confirmed themselves to qualify automatically without having to fight through the qualifying rounds.
The draw for the group stage will take place tonight at 23.00 WIB. The draw can later be entered via the official website of European football parent UEFA or the competition broadcasting rights holder.
As in previous years, only the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage of the European Champions League. Meanwhile, the third-placed team will be promoted to the Europa League.
