There Was The Discovery Of A 500 Kilogram World War II Bomb Weight, 13 Thousand German Residents Evacuated
JAKARTA - An allied bomb that has not exploded from World War II, forced 13,000 people to flee their homes overnight in Germany.
The explosives made in the United States weighing 500 kg were found at a building site in Dusseldorf, western Germany.
The bomb was successfully defused by a bomb disposal team in the early hours of Tuesday, when residents took shelter in school buildings, as reported by The National News on August 8.
Emergency workers secured a radius of 500 meters as they tried to tame the bomb.
Citing DW, long-distance train travel was disrupted due to the discovery of the bomb. Meanwhile, several local bus and tram lines were stopped.
It is known, the discovery of a bomb left over from World War II is not unusual in Germany. A British bomb was destroyed in a controlled explosion in Hamburg in the northern part last month.
In December 2021, a World War II-era bomb exploded at a construction site in Munich, injuring four people. Meanwhile, in 2020, 13,000 people in Frankfurt were forced to flee after a similar British bomb was discovered.
