Using Artificial Intelligence, Hyundai And Kia Fight Climate Change With Revolutionary Carbon Emission Monitor System
JAKARTA - The world's leading automotive manufacturer is trying to play a role in creating clean air by adopting revolutionary measures in the practice of production, vehicle delivery, and cooperation with suppliers.
One of the leading vehicle manufacturers, the Hyundai Motor Group (HMG), together with subsidiary Kia Corp., has introduced the Supply CO2 Emission Monitoring System (SCEMS) which uses artificial intelligence (AI). The system aims to manage carbon emissions from their business partners at every stage of the supply chain.
Seung Hyun Hong, Head of the Hyundai & Kia Material Research and Engineering Center, explained that SCEMS provides a revolutionary approach in managing carbon emissions and contributing in fighting global climate change. This opens up a new era for a sustainable supply chain.
"With pride, we are at the forefront of this transformative journey, working with our partners to form a greener and brighter future for all," Hong said in his official statement, Thursday, July 27.
SCEMS is designed to calculate carbon emission levels from cooperation partners at each stage of the supply chain. Hyundai and Kia have tested the effectiveness of this technology and managed to quickly and safely collect carbon emission data.
By leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance blockchain technology, business partners can efficiently monitor and manage collected data as well as carbon emission status in their respective workplaces.
By using this system, Hyundai and Kia affirm their commitment to tackling climate change and encouraging sustainability programs in the automotive industry.

Not only that, Hyundai and Kia also have strategic plans to become leading electric car manufacturers by 2030. Both plan to release a total of 31 battery-powered electric car models by 2030, including Kia EV9 which is scheduled to be launched this month, as well as Hyundai Ioniq 7 which will be present next year.
