TikTok Users On IOS Can Now Log In To Accounts With Password Key
JAKARTA - TikTok launches a new, safer way when users log in to their account with the password or passkey key feature on iOS.
Password keys are a password replacement that can confirm user identities based on encrypted biometric authentication methods that are already available on devices, such as Apple, Face or TouchID features.
When a user uses a password, all biometric authentication data remains on the device and will not be accessed or processed by third-party apps, such as TikTok.
Now, users also have the option to use password key instead of password to log in to the TikTok account directly from the iCloud account across devices.
Password keys simplify the login process and make it difficult for accounts to be compromised because there are no more traditional passwords that can be stolen, forgotten, or reused on many accounts.
Most of them are phishing-resistant password keys that protect against the number one crime type, according to the 2022 Internet Crime Report created by the FBI's Internet Crime Complaints Center (IC3).

As part of the launch of this password key, TikTok also announced membership at the FIDO Alliance, an open industry organization that has a mission to develop authentication standards, helping to reduce dependence on traditional passwords.
Passwords are a security barrier and user experience that has long passed its expiration date which is why the FIDO Alliance has created open standards for passwordless authentication used by leading service providers," said Executive Director of the FIDO Alliance, Andrew Shikiar in a statement, quoted Tuesday, July 18.
"This is to allow consumers to have easier access to leading online services like TikTok," he added.
However, password keys for iOS are only available in certain areas, including Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America from this month, and will be extended to other countries from time to time.
