Threads Now Has 100 Million Users, Twitter's Future Is Certainly Gloomy?
JAKARTA - Threads, Meta's new text-based social media, has now surpassed 100 million registrants, just five days after its launch. This achievement is inversely proportional to its competitor, Twitter.
"It's mostly organic demand, and we haven't even activated many promotions yet," Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a post on Threads.
Since launching on July 6 , Threads has set record user growth with celebrities, politicians and other news creators joining the platform.
It marked a staggering feat for any social network and allowed it to quickly pass Twitter's audience size.

It is claimed that this new social media is present as the first serious threat to Elon Musk's microblogging application.
In fact, Threads bears a strong resemblance to Twitter in that users can upload text posts of up to 500 characters, supporting links, photos, and videos of up to five minutes.
However, the app lacks direct messaging features, a desktop version, hashtags, and keyword search functionality, which limits its appeal to advertisers.
The record in Threads also overtook OpenAI's ChatGPT as the fastest-growing consumer app in history in January, about two months after its launch. This was quoted by Reuters, Tuesday, July 11.
